August Meeting Update:

Libby Cameron, as shown in photo 1, Deputy President of the Mosman Home Gardeners’ Society, took the attending members through a fascinating journey of discovery of the history and current developments of the three sites of the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens.  Libby was particularly excited by the development of the Seed Bank at Mt Annan and a new tropical glasshouse at Farm Cove, Sydney.  She also highlighted the upcoming celebrations by the Royal Botanic Gardens  of their 200 years in development. 

Spring highlights at the Gardens include:

·       The Spring Garden display at Farm Cove, Sydney.

·       A spectacular display of Australian strawflowers timed to be at their height on Fathers’ Day at Mt Annan.

·       A magnificent Waratah festival in October at the Mt Tomah gardens.

Photo 2 shows the Dame Joan Sutherland rose:  planted in 2013 by the Mosman Home Gardeners’ Society  in Hampshire Park, Mosman,  in 2013 to mark  the occasion of the Society’s  70th birthday.
